Gary E. Merenstein is a proficient attorney with a deep background working at consumer protection cases. He not only has received a JD law degree but has also received a Masters of Law in Taxation. His law experience ranges from working at court-appointed cases and legal services cases to private client class action cases. Merenstein represents consumers in a multitude of tax matters, including tax advice, tax audits, and tax return preparation. Gary Merenstein also represents the elderly and the mentally ill in a variety of legal matters.

As an attorney, Mr. Merenstein has accomplished a great deal. Amongst his most highly regarded efforts is his work in helping to establish several legal standards that debt collectors must comply with in the State of Colorado. Gary E. Merenstein was a major player in the Colorado Supreme Court decision of Flood v. Mercantile Adjustment Bureau. This milestone case also established several legal standards that debt collectors must comply with under the Colorado Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in regard to the legality of their language used in their initial validation notices provided to consumers. Gary also co-counseled approximately fifteen consumer protection class action cases, and served as co-counsel in several reported cases. Mr. Merenstein has testified several times in the Colorado legislature regarding the debt collection industry and his consumer protection practice.

Merenstein is very passionate about representing consumers subjected to abusive debt collection, and defending consumers in debt collection cases. He continues to represent consumers in unfair trade practices, breach of warranty, truth in lending, auto repossession, and foreclosure cases. He also represents consumers in front of the Internal Revenue Service.

Gary Merenstein performed his undergraduate work at the University of Colorado, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in American Studies. Merenstein was then educated in Law at Stetson College of Law where he received his JD. He then continued on in his legal studies at the University of Florida, where his concentration was tax law. Merenstein received his Masters Degree in Tax Law from the University of Florida in 1990, and soon after launched his career as an attorney in the state of Colorado.
